Educate. Empower. Energize.

LAUREL, MD., April 13, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The IECC helped celebrate its 40and anniversary by highlighting their ongoing #whatsyourcircuit social media campaign, focused on spreading IECC electrical apprenticeship programs. As one of the largest chapters of the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) association, IECC programs are affordable and fully recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Apprenticeship & Training. Trained by master electricians, electrician apprentices earn excellent salaries while working on progressive and exciting projects, which ultimately prepares them for lifelong rewarding careers as basic infrastructure workers.

“We are very pleased to celebrate 40 years as the leading organization for American and global electricians,” said Grant Shmelzer, Executive Director of the IECC. “We continue to do this work because it is important – well-trained electricians are absolutely essential for a healthy and functioning 21.st society of the century.”

IECC: Electrical Apprenticeship Programs

With a strong infrastructure and enduring community relationships, the IECC provides advanced hands-on training and additional resources to a wide variety of regional members ranging from philadelphia cream for Virginia. IECC’s online program spans the globe and has included students from as far away as Germanytraining hundreds of apprentice electricians and licensed electricians each year.

IECC’s signature apprenticeship program is a combination of classroom and on-the-job training over a four-year period (three years for low voltage). The program is cost-effective and designed to provide the apprentice with the education and practical training needed to achieve electrician status, where they are then free to develop their career as they see fit. The IECC program also has the distinction of being one of the few programs that has a strong focus on energy derived from solar energy and other renewable sources.

The live webcast format was developed to meet the unique needs of low voltage contractors who regularly move their employees, often making it difficult to attend a traditional classroom program. Classes are taught by experienced and engaging instructors who encourage students to participate as they would in the classroom. And to ensure that students receive the necessary hands-on training, the IECC requires that apprentices undergo labs and vocational training under the supervision of a journeyman or foreman on the job site.

Another web-based online electrical program (EApprenticeship) is designed to allow flexibility for students who live too far to travel, or who are currently assigned to evening or night work. A 4-year web-based program that uses an integrated training model to train online at the convenience of students, IECC is a state-approved sponsor in DC, MD, and VA – meaning online learning meets the same Ministry of Labor requirements as a traditional live class series.
