Srinagar, July 30: The Kashmir Young Electrical Entrepreneurs Association (KYECA) today staged a protest alleging that tenders issued by KPDCL made them ineligible to participate in the tender process .
Dozens of contractors under the KYECA banner appeared in the Press Enclave and were heard brandishing slogans against the authorities for sidelining them under what they said was a well-planned plan. thought while demanding the immediate cancellation of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
“KPDCL has launched tenders of Rs 200-300 crore and to participate in the tender process we need to have a monthly turnover of almost Rs 5-6 crore, which we don’t have not and even if we come together to achieve it. , we will not succeed,” said Ubaid Ahmad, secretary of KYECA.
He said if they are sidelined and unable to participate in the process, they and the family members of nearly 50,000 people will have to suffer. “This is going to seriously affect us and those associated with us; we demand that the RDSS program be canceled without delay,” he said, adding that the retired officers are acting as sponsors and the whole process is a scam.
Another protester, Bilal Ahmad, said the tenders that have been launched range from Rs 200 to 500 crore and depending on the eligibility criteria, they go nowhere.
“We don’t exist there. J&K’s independent structure is being torn down under certain conspiracies. The RDSS program should be canceled and the bidding process should be the same as before,” he said.
