Each fall, the staff of EC&M unveils its highly anticipated list of the top 50 electrical contractors, ranked specifically by electricity and datacom revenue. For many years, the top 50 players have managed to surpass their performances from the previous year with every successful poll. This year, the collective group posted a 20% gain over last year, marking the largest year-over-year increase in 15 years. Despite this impressive increase in revenue, major electrical contractors continue to face serious challenges, including rising inflation, continued supply chain delays and labor shortages. For 2022, the top 50 electrical contractors brought in over $40 billion (based on 2021 numbers), topping the 2021 total by over $34 billion and $33 from 2020.
